Upcoming Norooz Events in Your Community, Part Three
Last week, PARSA CF released its latest issue of “In the Spotlight,” highlighting the frontiers of Norooz. We also asked members of the Iranian community around the world to send us information on educational and cultural outreach-based Norooz events that were not covered in the article. People responded enthusiastically, and as a continuation of last week's "Force for Good," PARSA CF will feature additional Norooz events here.
On March 13, the Department of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University held its annual Norooz reception, featuring a haft seen table and Persian sweets and tea. The event celebrated the diverse cultures of Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, India, Kurdistan and Georgia, many of whom celebrate the Persian new year. On March 22, the Iranian Heritage Society of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada, will also host a Norooz celebration at the Fantasyland Hotel. The event will include traditional dance performances and music. Click here for more information: http://ihse.ca/
The Persian Cultural Club will host a Norooz event at the Valle Verde Children's Center in Walnut Creek, California on March 22. The event will feature a performance by Shahrzad Dance Academy and a play in Persian by children from the Dehkhoda Persian School. PCC will also host a Norooz celebration on March 28, in San Jose, California, in cooperation with the Almaden Library and Community Center. The event will include performances by Beshkan Dance Academy, Niosha Dance Academy, Shahrzad Dance Academy, traditional music by Hamavazi Group and a play from the Dehkhoda Persian School.
