Donor Education Programs

The Global Philanthropists Circle is designed to be an ongoing opportunity for concerned individuals and families to investigate, learn about, and invest in path breaking efforts to tackle problems in many countries throughout the world. The Philanthropists Circle will provide a comfortable space for members to exchange ideas with other serious philanthropists, to learn about successful initiatives in an unbiased manner, to meet a cross-section of leaders in government, business, and civil society, and to have a way to invest directly in international initiatives through a vehicle of their own choosing.

The Philanthropic Initiative (TPI) helps donors develop effective strategies to address the social issues of greatest concern to them. TPI consulting services include strategic planning, facilitation, and training of trustees and staff on a range of social issues, and development, implementation, and evaluation of grant programs. In addition to these services, TPI strives to increase the amount and impact of philanthropic resources through donor education and research.

The Philanthropy Workshop Founded in 1995, The Philanthropy Workshop (TPW) is a donor training and leadership development program for philanthropists who wish to bring their giving to a more strategic level, emphasizing root cause problem solving, global giving, and impact. To that end, TPW brings together a small group (maximum of 12-15) for four weeklong modules which combine issues seminars, skills building sessions, extensive site visits, retreats, and networking opportunities. TPW also offers an alumni association for ongoing learning and networking through reunions and funders collaboratives. TPW has been replicated through the following programs: TPW/Argentina, TPW/West (in Silicon Valley), Philanthropic Leadership in the Americas (for Latin Americans and US-based Latinos), and TPW/Canada.

The Philanthropy Workshop West is a powerful executive leadership program in philanthropy. The program consists of four quarterly workshops held over the course of a year in four locations -- two in Menlo Park, one in Washington DC, and one international destination. Over the past four years, the program has experienced unparalleled success in leveraging effective global philanthropy through strategic partnering and education.
