Omidyars #1 on Barron's 'Best Givers' List
Barron's 'Best Givers' List focuses on philanthropists who are getting results from the money they give. Barron's focus on high-impact giving yielded a list of 25 powerful philanthropists who were ranked on such criteria as innovation, quality of alliances with other groups, the ripple effects of their giving and the extent to which their successful projects can be replicated. At the very top of this list was EBay founder and Iranian American Pierre Omidyar. The Omidyar Network invests in businesses and nonprofits that aim for social change and has achieved extraordinary success in venture philanthropy. As just one example of the Omidyar Network's success, a $100 million fund that Pam and Pierre Omidyar established at Pierre's alma mater Tufts University is set to produce $1 billion in microloans to developing countries while also turning a profit for Tufts. PARSA congratulates Pam and Pierre Omidyar on this honor and their incredible success in venture philanthropy. See the Best Givers List.
