Iransara/ICASA is a non-political, non-religious culturally-oriented tax-exempt non-profit community service organization for the COMMUNITY INTERESTS of the Iranian (and related) communities of Southern Arizona.
Iransara Community Association of Southern Arizona (ICASA) or “Anjoman-e Iransara dar Jonoob-e Arizona” (Iransara or ICASA, for short) is a non-political, non-religious culturally-oriented tax-exempt non-profit community service organization with the following goals: 1- To work for creating an “Iransara,” by pooling/sharing resources and providing the needed functions and services, as appropriate and possible, toward establishing (by renting, buying, or building) an actual physical community center for Southern Arizona's Iranian community's cultural, social, and educational needs and activities (namely, its community interests) as soon as possible, aiming to preserve and enhance our Iranian and related cultures, civilization, languages/dialects, traditions, and heritage. 2- To help educate the American public about our historical, civilizational, cultural, and linguistic heritage and achievements, and about our contributions to the larger American and world society, by presenting an organized framework for constructive cross-cultural dialogue, education, information-sharing, and collaboration. 3- Examples of the community services that we intend to work toward providing or expanding (to be "housed" within the Iransara community center, when/if possible, and as appropriate) include: a- Regular or occasional cultural (and arts/sports) gatherings for community-building, education, fellowship, and enjoyment, such as annual cultural celebrations, including Mehregaan, Shab-e Yalda, and Nowruz, including 4-Shanbeh Souri and 13-Bedar, namely the preparation and integration phases of the Nowruz festival/season. b- Community interest classes, such as Persian language instruction, music, various skills training, etc. c- Poetry reading, appreciation, and analysis. d- Storytelling and other forms of orally transmitted traditions of civility, such as Shahnameh-khaani, etc. e- Youth and elderly services/activities, and as appropriate and possible, gender- and/or age-specific social functions and services, for example, those pertaining to the unique health or educational needs of women, girls, men, and boys.. f- Newcomer/Immigrant assistance services. g- Employment/Medical/Legal/Emergency assistance services. h- Organized facilitation of cooperation among the Iranian community businesses and professionals. |
