Toronto Initiative for Iranian Studies promote academic studies of Persian speaking societies of the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia and the Persianate diasporic communities in Canada by enhancing undergraduate and graduate teaching; supporting conferences, lectures, seminars and workshops; and facilitating grants, fellowships, and co-operative and exchange programs with other universities and communities organizations. It also seek to establish a centralized depository in Toronto for Iranian and Persian materials embracing textual, visual, audio, and electronic resources from Iran and Persian-speaking diasporic communities in Southern Asia, Europe, and North America.
