The Muslim Student Association at the University of Arizona is a student-run organization tasked with bringing the University's Muslims and non-Muslims together in an atmosphere that facilitates the sharing of progressive ideas, awareness about the World's dynamic community of Muslims, and a forum that embraces the wide variety of cultures found throughout the Islamic World. Current leadership includes a member of Tucson's Iranian-American community, who is a medical student studying at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Members meet weekly to discuss the organization's budget, and plan various events, usually oriented towards service activities, locally, nationally, and even internationally. Plans for expansion this year involve inviting renowned speakers to present on contemporary social, political, and historical issues related to the Near-East and Middle-East. |
