The Iranian Student Cultural & Aesthetic Organization (ISCAO) steadily works toward creating a united Persian community, on and off the UC Davis campus.
We, as a group of Iranian students, founded the organization because assimilation in a foreign land was leading to a loss of heritage.
The primary goal of ISCAO is to educate everyone, including ourselves, about the Persian culture, its practices, and its illustrious history.
With the cooperation of various student organizations and surrounding Persian communities, we hope to achieve our goal through the following activities:
Inviting guest lecturers to the UC Davis campus
Showing Iranian motion pictures & documentaries
Instituting Farsi classes
Producing cultural celebrations in honor of Persian holidays
We hope that with our efforts, we may soon be witnesses to a flourishing community of Persians united in a quest for education and friendship.
It has been more than a decade since ISCAO was founded and we are still standing strong as a prosperous group of Iranian students that work towards educating and enlightening everyone (both Iranians and non-Iranians) about every part of the beautiful Persian culture as well as uniting the Iranian community at UC Davis. Through out many years we have been able to bring Iranians together by offering events such as: The Nowrouz Show, bringing in guest speakers: Minoo Moallem, Ali Behdad, Dr. Hamid Dabashi, and many others, Watching Film Series: Once Upon a Time Cinema, Bitter Dream, and many others. We also have many social events such as BBQs, Formal Dances, and Ski Trips. We Hope to make ISCAO more known around the Iranian and non-Iranian community, we would like to expand our organization by help of our members, fellow classmates, sponsors, and allumnies. | |
